Wild Wild West

We just got back from a trip out west and I am missing my family dearly! We had a wild trip, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I am so glad I got to see so much of my family! Especially people that drove to my parents house! Hermione LOVED playing with her cousins and is quite deflated now that we are home and its just the two of us again.

Just before we boarded for Las Vegas – I was so  nervous about this flight that I didn’t sleep for two weeks before we left! Blessings from Heaven and we didn’t have anyone next to us!! Such a wonderful thing!

We rode the carousel downtown St George and it was pretty funny. Hermione was terrified when I went with her on a regular horse but loved sitting with Papa on the slay!

Baby’s in swimming costumes – yes I stole that from Brooklyn – I die every time. She would wear this all day err day if I could make her!

I swear my dad isn’t angry in this photo – I think he was trying to be funny??

Lindsay is the one who picked us up in Vegas and then she stayed for a few days at my parents. She is the best and I am soon grateful she made the trip! Herminator – as Lindsay calls her – loved getting to play with Lindsay!

One of the best parts of my trip was going to the temple with one of my very best friends! We need to start that as a tradition!!! Maybe try and make it to every temple before we die??

Another swimmy!

This, sadly, is the only picture I got of Hermione and her cousin Ila together – fail.

One thing we were able to do was go to the Manti Pageant in Manti, UT. After taking a wrong turn and driving us about 50 miles in the wrong direction my mom took over and we finally got there! My grandma was there which was so fun! She is such a sweet spirit and I love her dearly! We even got the cast members to sing her happy birthday since she was celebrating her 92!

And an awkward photo of me for posterity.

This is my favorite face of Hermione’s – perhaps that has something to do with her waking up at 3 am.

More cousins. She was obsessed!

We even got to see Kelli and Mason!!! I die over his cuteness – they better get married.

Best day of Hermione’s life.

Feeding the ducks with grandma – so close to falling in so many times…

Iowa’s family came to visit that last weekend and it was wonderful! We did a lot of fun things and they were such troopers about the 112 degree heat.

Ioua and I got food poisoning on our way home from Utah – it kicked in right before we got on the plane so that was a super wonderful day … and the flight was full.

Hermione would freak out every time I held her new cousin – like she did NOT like it. But I loved getting to snuggle the cuteness!

And another picture of babies and popsicles because there is nothing better.

Half As Good

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

This morning I woke up with Hermione, fixed breakfast for Ioua, and got ready all before 7:30 AM. I feel so good about myself. As I listened to Elder Christopherson’s talk about fathers I thought about all that fathers do. And what you don’t know is that behind the scenes Ioua is really what makes this family work. He is our backbone and he is a worthy priesthood holder which is the best thing he can be for Hermione and I.

What you don’t know is that every other day this week Ioua has gotten up with Hermione – in fact its rare if I do. When I woke up with Hermione she kept asking for Dadda because it was so weird to see me so early (5 AM).

What you don’t see is that Ioua came home from mutual last night and did the dishes – the super stinky dishes that should have been done the day before. That is why I was willing to make breakfast, because the kitchen was clean. And lets be honest they were frozen waffles from Trader Joe’s.

What no one sees is that Ioua faithfully fulfill’s his calling, while working and going to school. He loves us so much and always makes time for family. He changes dirty diapers and helps me with anything I need.

What I see is someone who supports my dreams and goals while working tirelessly on his own. I see someone who wants a good life for his family where we can always have the spirit in our home.

So I may only be half as good in every way, but thats okay with me. I feel honored and blessed to have such a husband.

H’s First Easter Egg Hunt

Our friends invited us to go and have an easter egg hunt with their family! Hermione loved it, even though she didn’t really understand and she kept throwing them saying BALL!!

She was there with her boyfriend though and had flowers in her hair so I would say it was a success!

Easter is so fun! Now if it would just be real spring instead of fake spring …

Spring? Are you there??

Hermione and I tried to go outside today to play in the snow and possible take some pictures … nope. Like 4 or 5 inches of snow. So I guess we will share what our day really looks like today.

Mom’s Poncho

My mom got this poncho on her 16th birthday. It is so rad! She gave it to me when I was in high school but I was always too scared to wear it, afraid I might mess it up. I LOVE IT. Don’t mind my awkward poses. Now I just need to go on a fun date somewhere where I can show it off … hint hint hubby…

I know I’m so cool.

Ioua started back to school today and I’m pretty bummed he isn’t here, but it has been nice to get back to a real schedule. The house is clean and I even have dinner in the crock pot, like a boss.

Hermione is growing up too flipping fast. I feel like she is already turning into a teenager! Last week we went to the pediatrician and she said, “If she hasn’t started already she will probably start throwing fits soon.” And like clock work Hermione now throws fits. She is still the sweetest, but oh my! I need advice on how NOT to raise my voice all day long. My neighbors probably think I’m nuts.

I have been trying to teach her body parts and such and yesterday when we were learning nose I held her and gave her a few eskimo kisses and I kid you not I did it like 3 times and she fell instantly to sleep, like snoring. It was the sweetest thing and my heart just melted.

Basically life is pretty rad right now – minus the 1 degree weather we are having in Milwaukee. It just makes you want to cry, so I don’t like to think about it.

Baby Hermione

Well, we did it! We had our sweet little girl last week and it has been so crazy ever since! I’m not sure why I keep expecting her to sleep through the night. She’s only a week old and I haven’t really had an opportunity to try and get her on any kind of a schedule. I’ve just been trying to let my body recover!

I don’t think I have ever been so happy! God knew what he was doing when he sent me this little angel. When my hormones freak out and I cry and cry she just lays in my arms and looks up at me with her sweet eyes. It’s like she’s saying, come on mom! I’m here, its okay! She is the most beautiful baby I think I’ve ever seen.  I know I don’t seem like a reliable source since she is mine, but seriously! Also, all of the nurses in the nursery said she was the cutest one!

I mean, just look at that face! Also, Ioua being a dad. Most wonderful thing I think I’ve ever seen! He is such a natural and she LOVES him! He is always so concerned about her and looks forward to seeing her all day! (Even though he basically sees her all night since she doesn’t sleep!) It melts my heart every time he holds her.

And now lots of pictures because, obviously …

She is the tiniest! Doesn’t that bink look huge in her mouth!?

Summer, Glorious Summer

20140609-134507-49507530.jpgYesterday I spent my lunch break on a blanket in the park. It was perfection! On Saturday we went to the Provo Rec Center outdoor pool and had a blast with Christine and her family. Those kids crack me up! I LOVE summer. It feels like your body and mind are starting to come alive again. Lately I have had an obsession with water melon. I want to make every kind of drink I can! Especially lemonade – I haven’t tried water melon lemonade yet, but I have a feeling it will be a game changer. And maybe it would take my mind off of the itchy sunburn I got from the pool ..

Ioua took the LSAT yesterday!!! I am so proud of him and how hard he works! I really was so lucky I was able to trick him into marrying me … he is better in every way. Also, he takes such good care of me while I am prego. We have a family reunion coming up in Idaho! We are camping … we have an air bed though so it isn’t real camping, but I don’t think my pregnant back could handle sleeping on the ground. It should be so much fun!! I can wait to take Ioua to Yellowstone since he hasn’t ever been before! Hope we see a buffalo! Our last family reunion Ioua and I weren’t married yet and I got the stomach flu my first day there and ended up barfing the whole week – here’s to that NEVER happening again.  I don’t think I could take getting the stomach flu while pregnant. (Knock on wood)

Stagnant :: Getting My Joy Back

Lately I have felt very stagnant.

Like I need to start actually doing the things that I love instead of watching TV everyday when I get home.  I want to create more. I love crafting and I want to actually attempt some of the things I have pinned to Pinterest!

I also want to improve in my photography. Taking photographs really is something that I love and I know I still have a lot to learn.

I need to get out and move more! I need to not let pregnancy keep me from being healthy (as far as exercise goes) so I am going to try and make it to the gym a couple of times a week.

The biggest area I want to improve in is spiritually. Ioua and I are still in nursery so if I want to learn and feel the spirit during the week I better take care of that myself. Ioua and I really want to get started on family history.  A lot of mine is already completed, but Ioua has almost nothing on his.

So in order to accomplish these things here are some more concrete goals:

1.  Try one DIY a week

2.  Learn two new photography techniques a month and practice them

3.  Make it to the gym at least twice a week and do something active with Ioua another day

4.  Read scriptures every morning for 20 mins

5.  Do one hour of family history every Sunday.

I am really excited about these so lets hope I can do them for the whole month of May! Are there any goals any of you are working on this month? Spring is a great time to make some changes!

Back And Better Than Ever

Well, I am back!  Ioua has a laptop now thanks to his VERY generous parents – so I have an announcement to make … we’re pregnant!!!! We are so beyond excited! It has been so strange and so exhilarating. I thought this Winnie the Pooh quote said it perfectly.

Baby Announcement

So anyway, thats our news. We couldn’t be happier! Thanks to everyone for the support and love. We are taking name suggestions since the best one Ioua has come up with is Rocket …

Radio Silence :: See you in April

So I haven’t been posting a lot – and I probably won’t post very often until after April.  Ioua’s computer bit the dust and so he has to use my laptop for school and homework.  Which is totally fine, but since the poor guy is so busy it means I won’t be posting. I will every once in a while, but it won’t be a priority. My priority for the next two months will be scrubbing my tiny apartment to get ready for family to come for graduation, taking as many photographs as I can, being as healthy as I can, and supporting Ioua through his last two months of school.  Last two!!! I can hardly believe it!  I am so proud of him – he is such a smarty! Law school won’t know what hit them!

Anyway, see you on the flip side.
